About Todd

Todd Bacile

Todd Bacile, Ph.D., teaches Electronic Marketing, Advanced Marketing Strategy, and Principles of Marketing at Loyola University New Orleans. He holds a doctoral degree in marketing from Florida State University and an M.B.A. from Mississippi State University. Dr. Bacile has published numerous research papers at national and regional marketing conferences including the American Marketing Association, the Society for Marketing Advances, and the Academy of Marketing Science. His research has also been published or is forthcoming in the Journal of Interactive Marketing, the Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing, and Marketing Education Review.

Professor Bacile’s research interests center on electronic marketing topics, including social media marketing, mobile marketing, search engine marketing, online complaining, and customer service recovery. These research areas align nicely with the undergrad courses he teaches, especially Electronic Marketing. The E-Marketing course introduces various technology concepts emerging in marketing and enables students to acquire hands-on application across several media, including search engine marketing (paid  and SEO), social media marketing (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn), mobile marketing (text message marketing, mobile apps, and location-based apps), social influence (i.e. Klout), and principles of e-commerce and the internet.

While teaching Electronic Marketing at Florida State he was bestowed with two teaching awards for his efforts in the classroom and innovative teaching style. In particular, Dr. Bacile gained international attention in the popular press for his use of Klout in the classroom. Overall, students enjoy his class discussions and leave the course with a vast degree of e-marketing knowledge, at least according to feedback he has received via RateMyProfessors.com and his LinkedIn recommendations from former students.

Outside of the classroom and research interests he has a wonderfully supportive wife and two sons that keep him busy. He enjoys cooking BBQ in his smoker, loves a great cup of coffee, and is probably one of the world’s foremost experts in mindless baseball trivia.
